The Eastern Christian Formation program (ECF) for our children starts TUESDAY, September 23rd. Classes are held every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m. at our St. Michael Hall. The theme this Catechetical year is “Jesus Christ our Hope.” What does the word “catechetical” mean? The root word “catechesis” is from a Greek word meaning “to echo or resound.” The role of every baptized person is to share and become witnesses of their faith. We thank, honor and bless all those who have responded to God’s call to grow in a deeper understanding of their commitment to the Lord Jesus. May God grant them many happy and blessed years!
Students Celebrate Successful Year
The final Eastern Christian Formation class for this year was held on Tuesday, April 21. Special thanks to all catechists and students for a terrific year. The new ECF year will begin in September. All students (pre-shool through high school) in our parish should be part of our ECF program. Religious education is vital to a child’s spiritual development and growth. ECF does not end after making one’s First Confession and Solemn Communion.
The students celebrated the successful year with games and ended the evening with Chick-fil-A and ice cream sundaes!

Students Prepare for Easter
At our last ECF class until after Easter, our youngest students learned about the events of Holy Week and ended the night with a fun Easter egg hunt, prizes, and the jellybean prayer to celebrate the Joyful Resurrection.
All students come together at the end of each class to sing a beautiful version of Our Father led by Mother Theodora.

ECF Prepares for Palm Sunday
Our youngest ECF students made images of pussywillows and palms and then worked together to act out the events of Palm Sunday. Our 3rd and 4th grade ECF students learned about St. John Climacus and how growing closer to God is like climbing a ladder. They created ladders and wrote six ways they can grow closer to God during the Great Fast. We also read the parable of the Prodigal Son and talked about asking God for forgiveness and how the Mystery of Repentance helps us return to God’s love.

Exploring the Fall of Creation
The 5th-7th graders completed their unit review about the Fall of Creation with a trivia game and snack prizes. The students are learning that though evil in the world does exist, we can choose to stay close to God by praying and choosing to do right when we are tempted.
